THE QURAN AFFIRMS
CHRISTIANS ARE NOT DISBELIEVERS
THE GOSPEL HAS NOT BEEN CORRUPTED
WHY HAS ISLAM CHANGED THE NAME OF GOD?

Dear esteemed reader of this brief tract, please know that its purpose is for us to examine what we hear from religious scholars and compare it with other divine scriptures, rather than simply accepting what we hear as unquestionable divine truth.

People change their perspectives over time with increased knowledge, and many have used religion as a means of livelihood rather than out of piety and seeking a good afterlife. The information documented here is taken from the Holy Quran and Islamic websites on the internet.

After the angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) appeared to the Prophet in the cave of Hira and then again seated on a throne in the air, and the Prophet was in doubt about him, the verse in Surah Yunus 10:94 was revealed:

"So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. Undoubtedly, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters."

Therefore, all the teachings of the Quran must be in complete harmony with the teachings of the Torah and the Gospel because the revelation is one. We should compare everything we hear, read, and learn to ensure the correctness of our faith, as it concerns our eternal destiny after leaving this world.

1. The Quran Affirms That Christians Are Not Disbelievers

Surah Al-Ma'idah 2:62:
"Indeed, those who believed and those who were Jews or Christians or Sabeans – whoever believed in Allah and the Last Day and did righteousness – will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will be upon them, nor will they grieve."

Surah Aal-Imran 3:113-114:
"They are not [all] alike; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [for the right], who recite the verses of Allah during periods of the night and are prostrating. They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous."

God declares that the pious Christians are righteous believers, will have their reward, and will not grieve (meaning they will not face eternal punishment and will enter Paradise).

Surah Al-Ankabut 29:46:
“And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in the best manner possible, except for those of them who commit injustice, and say, 'We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are in submission to Him.'

The Quran declares that Christians believe in the same One God and are not disbelievers. It also states that they should believe in the Scripture, and God would not command Muslims to believe in a corrupted book.

Surah Aal-Imran 3:55:
"[Jesus], indeed, I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ."

God emphasizes that the followers of Christ will be made superior to the disbelievers, meaning they are not disbelievers.

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:82:
"You will surely find the most intense of people in animosity toward the believers to be the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, 'We are Christians.' That is because among them are priests and monks, and because they are not arrogant."

The Quran here distinguishes four categories: believers (Muslims), Jews, polytheists, and Christians. Thus, Christians are not polytheists and do not show enmity towards Muslims.

Surah Yunus 10:64:
"For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words of Allah. That is the great success."

In the Torah, in Numbers 23:19:
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

And in Psalms 89:34:
"My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips."

God is All-Knowing and Wise, with whom there is no change or shadow of turning. He does not change; therefore, it is impossible for Him to alter His words. It is known that the words of kings are not to be gainsaid, how much more so God's.

2. The Quran Affirms That the Gospel Has Not Been Verbally Corrupted

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:68:
"Say, 'O People of the Scripture, you are not on anything until you uphold the Torah and the Gospel and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.' And many of them will surely increase in rebellion and disbelief because of what has been revealed to you from your Lord. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people."

Surah An-Nisa 4:136:
"O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book which He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray."

Surah Yunus 10:94:
"So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you. Undoubtedly, the truth has come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters."

Surah An-Nahl 16:43:
"And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message if you do not know."

It is clear from the previous verses that the Prophet calls upon Christians to uphold the teachings of the Torah and the Gospel and to believe in them, and for Muslims to refer to them to confirm their faith. Therefore, it is impossible for them to have been corrupted.

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:46:
"And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him of the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous."

Surah Al-Qasas 28:49:
"Say, 'Then produce a scripture from Allah which is more guiding than both of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful.'"

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:44:
"Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. By it the prophets who submitted [to Allah] judged for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allah, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed – then it is those who are the disbelievers."

The Quran affirms that the teachings of the Torah and the Gospel are guidance and light, so how could they be corrupted?

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:13:
"So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort words from their [proper] usages and have forgotten a portion of that by which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. So pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allah loves the doers of good."

The Jews were trying to interpret the Torah according to their desires to fulfill their purposes, but not the original text, because the Torah had spread throughout the world and there is no difference between ancient and current copies. God is the Preserver of the Reminder (Surah Al-Hijr 15:9: "Indeed, We have sent down the Dhikr [i.e., the Qur'an], and indeed, We will be its guardian.").

Aren't these Quranic verses enough to convince you that I am not a disbeliever and believe in the One God, the Lord who has no partner?

3. Did God Speak to All Prophets?

God spoke directly to all prophets from the beginning of creation. At the beginning of the Torah, in the Book of Genesis, God spoke to our father Adam and our mother Eve (chapters 2 & 3), and to the Prophet Noah (chapters 6-9), and to our father Abraham (chapters 12-20) until he was called the friend of God. Also, to the Prophet Moses in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, until he was called the one to whom God spoke. Thus, in all the books of the Torah and the Gospel, we find that God spoke directly to all the prophets. So why did He not speak directly to the Prophet Muhammad, who is said to be the greatest of prophets and the seal of messengers, like the other prophets? Instead, He sent him a doubtful angel, and it took his wife, Lady Khadijah (and Islam states that women are deficient in intellect and religion), and her cousin, the priest Waraqah ibn Nawfal (a heretical Christian), to confirm that it was the angel Gabriel and to affirm the Islamic call.

4. What is the True Name of God?

The true name of God was not known among people due to the multitude of names for pagan deities.

Until the Prophet Moses asked God in Exodus 3:13-15:

"Then Moses said to God, 'Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?' And God said to Moses, 'I AM WHO I AM.' And He said, 'Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' Moreover, God said to Moses, 'Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: 'The LORD [YHVH], the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.'"

In Islam, the name of the Lord God is "Allah." The name of the Prophet's grandfather was Abd al-Muttalib, who, when he married and had a son, named him Abdullah. This indicates that "Allah" was a god worshipped before Islam. If we search for this name online, we find that it was the name of the moon god worshipped by people at that time, and its symbol was the crescent moon, which you find at the top of mosque domes and on the flags of some Islamic countries.

The Lord God warned His ancient Jewish people not to mention the name of any other god in all the places where they lived, as in Exodus 23:13:

"And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth."

Is it fitting for the true Lord God to consent to changing His glorious name to the name of a pagan god, with the crescent moon as its symbol?

Please do not call me a disbeliever.
