The Qur'an affirms that Christians are not
disbelievers, and that the Injil was not altered.
So, why does Islam change the name of God?
Dear esteemed reader of this brief tract, please know that its purpose is to examine what we hear from religious leaders and compare it with the rest of the heavenly books, and not to accept what we hear as if it were the divine truth beyond discussion, for people change their points of view as time passes and knowledge increases, and many people have taken religion as a means of livelihood and not to fear God and seek the good of the Hereafter. The information recorded here is taken from the Noble Qur'an and Islamic websites on the internet.
After the angel Jibril, peace be upon him, appeared to the Prophet in Hara' and again while sitting on a throne in the air, and the Prophet was in doubt about him, the verse was sent down in Surah Yunus 10:94: “If you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, then ask those who read the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.” Therefore all the teachings of the Qur'an must be in complete harmony with the teachings of the Torah and the Gospel, since the revelation is one, and we compare everything we hear, read, and learn to make sure of the soundness of our faith, for it concerns our eternal destiny after we depart from this world:
1- The Qur'an affirms that Christians are not unbelievers (KAFER).
Surah Al-Ma'idah 2: 62 Indeed, those who have believed, and those who were Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabeans—whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteousness—will have their reward with their Lord, and no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.
Surah Al 'Imran 3: 113 They are not all alike. Among the People of the Book is an upright community; they recite the verses of Allah during periods of the night, and they prostrate. 114 They believe in Allah and the Last Day, enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and hasten to good deeds; and those are among the righteous
Allah declares that the devout Christians are believers who do good; they have their reward and will not grieve (that is, they will not have eternal torment, and they will have Paradise)
Surah Al-'Ankabut 29: 46 And do not argue with the People of the Book except in a way that is best—except for those who commit injustice among them—and say, “We believe in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to you; our God and your God is One, and we are to Him submitted.”
The Qur'an declares that Christians believe in the same one God and are not unbelievers, and that they must believe in the Book; Allah will not command Muslims to believe in a corrupted Book.
Surah Al 'Imran 3: 55 When Allah said, “O 'Isa, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that over which you used to differ.”
Allah confirms that the followers of the Messiah will be placed above the unbelievers; that is, they are not unbelievers.
Surah Al-Ma'idah 5: 82 You will surely find that the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers are the Jews and those who associate others with Allah; and you will surely find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, “We are Christians” That is because among them are priests and monks, and because they are not arrogant.
The Qur'an here clarifies four categories: the believers (Muslims), the Jews, the polytheists, and the Christians; therefore, they are not polytheists and they do not show enmity to Muslims.
Surah Yunus 10: 64 For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter; there is no changing the words of Allah. That is the great attainment.
And in the Torah, in the Book of Numbers 23: 19: God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Does He say and not do? Or speak and not fulfill?
And in the Psalms 89: 34: I will not violate My covenant, nor will I alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
Allah is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, with whom there is no change nor shadow of turning; He does not change. Therefore it is not possible, indeed it is impossible, for Him to change His word, and it is well known that the words of kings are not revoked —how much more so those of Allah.
2-The Qur'an affirms that the Gospel was not altered in wording
Surah Al-Ma'idah 5: 68 Say, “O People of the Book, you are upon nothing until you establish the Torah and the Gospel and what has been revealed to you from your Lord.” But what has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in insolence and disbelief; so do not grieve over the disbelieving people.
Surah Al-Nisa' 4: 136 O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger, and the Book which He sent down before; and whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the Last Day has strayed into far error.
Surah Yunus 10: 94 If you are in doubt about what We have sent down to you, then ask those who have been reading the Book before you; the truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.
Surah Al-Nahl 16: 43 And We did not send before you except men to whom We revealed. So ask the People of Remembrance if you do not know.
It is clear from the preceding verses that the Prophet calls Christians to uphold the teachings of the Tawrah and the Gospel and to believe in him, and that Muslims should refer to them to verify their faith; it is therefore impossible that they are corrupted.
Surah Al-Ma'idah 5: 46 We followed in their footsteps with Isa ibn Maryam, confirming what was before him of the Tawrah and We gave him the Gospel in which there is guidance and light, and confirming what was before it of the Tawrah, and as guidance and admonition for the God-fearing.
Surah Al-Qasas 28: 49 Say, then bring a Book from Allah that is more guiding than these two I will follow it if you are truthful.
Surah Al-Ma'idah 5: 44 Indeed We sent down the Tawrah, in it is guidance and light, by which judge the prophets who submitted for those who were Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars, for they were entrusted with the Book of Allah and were witnesses over it. So do not fear the people, but fear Me, and do not sell My verses for a small price. And whoever does not judge by what Allah has sent down — then those are the disbelievers.
The Quran declares that the teachings of the Tawrat and the Gospel are guidance and light so how could they be corrupted?
Surah Al-Ma'idah 5: 13 So for their breaking their covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They distort the words from their places and forgot a portion of what they were reminded of. And you will not cease to observe betrayal from them — except for a few of them. So pardon them and overlook; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
The Jews were trying to interpret the Tawrah according to their desires to achieve their purposes, but not the original, because the Tawrah had already spread throughout the whole world, and there is no difference between the ancient and current copies, and Allah is the Preserver of the Reminder (Surah Al-Hijr 15: 9 “Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will be its Guardian”).
Are these Quranic verses not sufficient to convince you that I am not a disbeliever (KAFER)?
Based on what has preceded, I ask you not to call me a disbeliever (KAFER), for I believe in the Lord, the one God who has no partner, as stated in the Tawrah, the Gospel, and the Quran.
3- Did God speak with all the prophets?
God spoke directly with all the prophets from the beginning of creation. At the beginning of the Tawrah, in the Book of Genesis God spoke with our father Adam and our mother Eve, (Geneses chapters 2 & 3), the prophet Nuh (chapters 6–9), and our father Ibrahim (chapters 12–22), until he was called Friend of Allah. And also to the prophet Moses in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy, until he was called The speaker with Allah. Thus, throughout all the books of the Tawrah and the Gospel we find that God spoke directly with all the prophets. So why did He not speak directly with the prophet Muhammad, who is said to be the greatest of the prophets and the Seal of the messengers, as He did with the other prophets, but sent to him an angel of questionable standing and he needed his wife, Lady Khadijah (and Islam states that a woman is deficient in intellect and religion) and her cousin, the priest Waraqah ibn Nawfal (a heretical Christian), to say that he was the angel Jibril and to confirm the Islamic call.
4- What is the true name of God?
The true name of God was not known to the people because of the multiplicity of the names of pagan gods. Until the prophet Moses asked God in the Book of Exodus 3: 12 “Moses said to God: ‘Here I am coming to the children of Israel and I will say to them: The God of your fathers has sent me to you. And if they say to me: What is His name? What shall I say to them?’” 14 God said to Moses: “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said: “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.”15 And God also said to Moses: “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: YHWH, the God of your fathers, the God of Ibrahim, the God of Ishaq, and the God of Ya’qub, has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to generation after generation. As for Islam, the name of the Lord God is ‘Allah’. And the name of the Prophet’s grandfather, Abd al-Muttalib, when he married and was blessed with a son, he named him Abd Allah; this indicates that Allah was a deity worshiped before Islam. And if we search for this name on the internet, we find that it was the name of the moon god that people worshiped at that time, whose symbol was the crescent, and you see it atop mosques and on the flags of some Islamic countries.
The Lord God warned His ancient Jewish people against mentioning the name of any other god in all the places they dwelt, as in the Book of Exodus 23: 13: “Keep all that I have said to you; and do not mention the name of other gods, nor let it be heard from your mouth.”
Is it fitting for the true Lord God to accept that His majestic name be changed to the name of a pagan god, with the crescent as its sign?
Please do not call me a disbeliever (KAFER).
