THE QURAN AFFIRMS
THAT CHRISTIANS WORSHIP
THE TRUE ONE GOD
WHO HAS NO PARTNER
This brief piece is written to defend our faith and respond to those who accuse us of polytheism and disbelief, and to clarify our belief in the oneness of the Lord God Who has no partner, as stated in the Quran.
Surah Al-Ankabut 29:46:
"And do not dispute with the People of the Book except in the best way, unless it is with those of them who commit injustice, and say, 'We believe in what was revealed to us and revealed to you. Our God and your God is One, and we are Muslims [submitting] to Him.'"
And also in:
Surah Yunus 10:94:
"So if you are in doubt, [O Muhammad], about that which We revealed to you, then ask those who recite the Scripture [that was revealed] before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so never be among the doubters."
The preceding verse confirms that what is in the Quran must be consistent with the teachings of the Torah and the Gospel because the Author is one, and there should be no fundamental differences.
Al-Imran 3:45:
"When the angels said, 'O Mary, indeed Allah gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary – eminent in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allah].'"3:46: "He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."
An-Nisa 4:171:
"O People of the Scripture, do not exaggerate in your religion or state about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say 'Three'; desist – it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs."
The Quran clarifies in the first verse that Christ is the Word of God and is mentioned in the masculine (meaning he is a person), and since God cast him (he was present with Him). In the second verse, it's in the feminine (and since the word expresses the person, he is the expresser of God who is unseen). This is understood in the Gospel as "Christ is the Word of God, the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His being." Also it is known in scripture and history that Christ's life on Earth was thirty-three and a half years, and he was never an old man. So, what is the explanation for this difference?
God's Throne and Creation in the Quran
In the Quran, God has a throne and is carried by angels, and He is the sole Creator:
Al-A'raf 7:54:
"Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] pursuing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds."
Az-Zumar 39:75:
"And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, exalting [Allah] with praise of their Lord; and it will be judged between them in truth, and it will be said, 'All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'"
Al-Furqan 25:59:
"He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne – the Most Merciful; so ask about Him one well-informed."
Al-Haqqa 69:17:
"And the angels will be on its borders; and eight [of them] will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day."
At-Tawbah 9:129:
"But if they turn away, then say, 'Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne."
Al-Qalam 68:42:
"The Day a leg will be uncovered and they will be invited to prostration but will not be able."
In Sahih Muslim (2612), on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
"When one of you fights his brother, let him avoid striking the face, for Allah created him in His image."
Can the unlimited God appear in the image of a limited human who sits on a throne and uncovers a leg?
Surah 2:255
Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.
From this verse, we understand that, the Lord God IS UNLIMITED.
How the unlimited be limited on a throne surrounded and lifted by angles and has a leg?
God's Spirit in the Quran
The Quran confirms that God has a spirit:
Yusuf 12:87:
"O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and do not despair of the relief of Allah. Indeed, no one despairs of the relief of Allah except the disbelieving people."
The translator translated My spirit in the original Arabic Quran by Allah. To avoid what?
Al-Hijr 15:29:
"And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him from My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."
The same wrong translation of the original Quran of MY SPIRIT replaced by My Soul
Al-Baqarah 2:253:
"Those messengers – some of them We preferred over others. Among them were those to whom Allah spoke, and some He raised in degrees. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit [Gabriel]. If Allah had willed, those [generations] after them would not have fought each other after the clear proofs had come to them. But they differed, and some of them believed and some disbelieved. And if Allah had willed, they would not have fought each other, but Allah does what He intends."
Allah spoke to all the prophets as written in the Engeel, why not for the best of all Prophet Mohammad. And translated Holy Spirit by pure spirit, why?
Al-Anbiya 21:91:
"And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her through Our Spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds."
From this verse we understand that God has spirit and
The Lord God mentions how He created the first human (Adam) in the Torah, in the book of Genesis
Genesis 2:7:
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Genesis 2:18:
"And the Lord God said, 'It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.'"
Genesis 2:21-22:
"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib which He had taken from man, and He brought her to the man."
From the previous verses, we understand that it is God who breathed, and this means that God has a spirit. It is impossible for it to be the angel Gabriel, otherwise he would have be a partnered with God in the process of creation, which belongs to God alone. And we do not despair of His spirit, so the angel Gabriel would be a partner with God. Far be it!
From the foregoing, we understand and confirm that God has a Word that expresses Him, and He has a spirit that fills the universe. Since God is unlimited, and the limited (human) cannot fully comprehend the unlimited, we must accept and believe what He has revealed about Himself.
Who is the God Christians Worship?
Christians worship the eternal, everlasting, perpetual God, the sole Creator of the entire universe, and the Almighty, as stated in:
1 Timothy 1:17:
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen."
And in:
1 Timothy 6:15-16:
"which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honour and everlasting power. Amen."
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that God created man in His likeness, in His image (also in the Torah). Man has a body, spirit, and soul, each with its inherent properties. The body (human body) eats, drinks, and grows. The spirit (human spirit) is the means of communication with God. The soul (human soul) carries human nature. And these three are in one complete union, which is the human being.
For example, electricity exists, but we do not see it. However, if it flows through a special wire, the wire immediately glows, light is generated from it, and heat is emitted, yet they are still within the electricity, because when the electricity is cut off, the light and heat are cut off. However, electricity has its inherent properties: if a person touches it, it shocks them (but it does not illuminate or warm); the light born from it illuminates (but it does not warm or shock); and the heat emitted from it warms (but it does not illuminate or shock). We find that the inherent properties of light and heat differ from the inherent properties of electricity, which is unseen and untouchable, but from which light and heat are generated (or emitted) and which it still contains. Electricity is known by its shocking power and is seen in the light generated from it and the heat emitted from it. It is impossible to separate these three, as they are in a complete unitary union (which is electricity).
However, God is not like this, for He has no equal: The invisible Divine Person (the Father) who lives by His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) and the Word who became flesh (the Son, who is the expresser of God – the mind of God – the exact representation of God's essence). Each of them possesses all the inherent properties and actions of God (creation, omnipotence, wisdom, love, goodness...) in complete equality and complete union. The unlimited God cannot be fully understood by our limited minds, but God enlightens our minds, intellects, and hearts to know, understand, and accept Him.
There are many verses in the Torah that confirm this divine revelation:
Isaiah 48:16:
"Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD and His Spirit have sent Me."
Isaiah 9:6:
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
How can he be a child as a human and be a son and be the one God at the same time?
Isaiah 7:14:
"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."
The word Immanuel means "God with us."
Micah 5:2:
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting."
Who is He whose goings forth are from everlasting, how can He be born in the village of Bethlehem and come forth from there?
Please do not call me an infidel.
Surah Maryam 19:71-72:
“{71} There is not one of you but will pass over it; this is with your Lord, a decree which must be accomplished. {72} Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers therein on their knees.”
It is stated in Sahih Muslim (71/2816) on the authority of Aisha, the wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), that she used to say: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
“Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately, and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise.”
They asked,
"Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?"
He said,
"Not even I, unless Allah bestows His Mercy and Grace upon me. And know that the most beloved deed to Allah is the one that is done regularly, even if it is small."
If good deeds do not admit a person into Paradise, what is the solution?
I urge the reader of this brief piece to refer to the interpretations of scholars regarding the meaning of "passing over it" and the extent of piety mentioned in the Quran, and the duration one spends there until one is released from it. Because this is the most important thing in this life: for a person to know their eternal destiny and prepare to face God.
It is known in the Torah and the Gospel that only one kind of people will enter heaven (Paradise): those whose sins have been forgiven. So how does one obtain forgiveness? And is redemption beneficial? What is the value of redemption, as it says in:
Surah As-Saffat 37:107:
"And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice."
This is affirmed by the Torah and the Gospel. So, what is redemption in Islam? And can a sheep redeem a human? Far be it! For the human being's value is very great in the eyes of his Creator. Therefore, a Muslim must sincerely study and understand how to obtain redemption, which is the main theme that connects the Holy Bible from the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation, to ensure they know how their sins are forgiven. (With all my respect and appreciation for your dear soul, who is very precious to God's heart).
